REFLECTING BACK ON 2017, TWO MAJOR EVENTS STAND OUT … FIRES & SA HEREFORD NATIONALS
JUNE 2017 – Just when we thought the biggest problem in our area was the drought, the fires hit!
The fiercest fires the Thornhill area has ever experienced caused mass destruction and left in its wake kilometres of countryside that resembled the moon. A huge moment of perspective! And the overwhelming assistance received – from fighting fires to donations of meals, supplies and animal feed to calls & messages of support – left a community we are very proud to be part of, humbled and extremely grateful. Puttergill Farming would sincerely like to thank each and every person who offered their support during and in the aftermath of the chaos.
In the months following the fires, long-awaited rain was received, which greatly assisted in the recovery process. Unfortunately, as in a few parts of the country, the drought is relentless and we are ever-hopeful that the much-needed rain will come soon!
SEPTEMBER 2017 – Puttergill Herefords took part in the SA Hereford Nationals.
The SA Hereford Society’s Centenary year celebration was the perfect platform to put the Puttergill Herefords on the map. The SA Hereford Nationals were held in Moorreesburg, Western Cape. Puttergill Herefords had a hugely successful show and came home with the following awards:
